Majid Tounsi ‘Majik-To’ is an independent film director. He was born in Morocco. He earned his bachelor’s degree in acting at the Institut of Drama in Rabat. In 2001, he obtained a master’s degree in theatre directing at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, China. In 2009 he obtained his second master’s degree in film studies at Laval University, Canada. Since the very young age, he played various roles on stage in Morocco. He appeared as many different characters in TV series in China. He has been working as the Director of Practical Work and Research at Laval University. In 2010 he co-founded the Academie du Cinéma, a film academy for young people. He has been the member of the artistic committee and director of the Nuit de la Création at Musée National des Beaux Arts de Québec since 2009.
Since 2015 Majid Tounsi is the elected President of Kinö Québec, the organization that brings together all professionals in the field of filmmaking.
In 2013 Majid Tounsi founded his first production company Émojid Production. Since then he has produced and directed three short films as an independent filmmaker: Comment Rattraper le Coup (If You Can’t Beat 'Em, Join 'Em), Sequesterée, Ça goute le ciel and Tapis sauvage (wild carpet).
