About Gasper

I am a documentary film maker and documentary editor based in India.

I've worked on 3 long form documentary projects, besides editing all of my own short features for television. I've learnt the art of documentary editing through Paddy Bird (Inside the Edit). My first documentary film editing project "Paradise Re-invented" won an award for best editing (documentary) at the 2014 Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival.

I have produced features and documentary content for international television channels and production companies, including Euronews Television, McGee Media US and for corporates and charities including Park Hyatt, Child Rescue Charitable Trust and Caritas International.

I've lived in India all my life. I've filmed in remote villages in the poorest districts of India (like Mewat in north India) and in the metropolis of Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore. I can say I have a deep understanding of and, more importantly, sensitivity for the widely diverse cultures and people of India. Having worked for international television channels and organisations, I offer local insights with a global perspective to my stories.

I can research the story, conduct and shoot field interviews, capture audio and video and edit the package. A lot, true. And a massive advantage when quick turnaround is vital. What's more, having hands-on experience in all these areas of filmmaking also enables me to work better in a team collaboration.

Unique traits: Un-assuming, Don't bite, Patient:)

    Journeys (2015 - 2016)
Documentary by Gasper DSouza Director & Editor What began as a chance encounter between two individuals from two very different cultures and countries, has grown into an organisation responsible for transforming the lives of thousands of children. Matthew Kurian and Anita Edgar started out on their journey in 1997 and in the process discovered themselves. Over the years, many others have joined in their quest to transform lives. Journeys takes us on the incredible journey of El Shaddai and the crisscrossing lives of the people that make it a beating heart. In the process we ask ourselves “what is my journey?”

  • Paradise Re-invented

    Paradise Re-invented (2013 - 2014)
Documentary by Debbie Rogers Editor A 60-minute documentary film on the beach shacks of Goa - a former Portuguese colony on the west coast of India. Shot over the course of one season, the film explores the issues facing shack owners today. Over the years, the shacks have gone from being quiet, quaint beach hangouts for back-packing tourists to highly commercial night-spots on Goa's famed beaches.
