The industry has changed at a rapid pace. The dominance of the digital nonlinear production model has reduced costs and increased flexibility, but with flexibility comes increased production times. This increased time is offset by increased post production staff, therefore increasing production costs. The more flexibility exercised by the production the increased time and cost apply. In some instance it has become to mean, because I can, I should. My skill set allows for the Producer to better determine what you should or shouldn't include in your production. The financial profitability of a film is equally as important as the look and feel of the final film. You are only as good as your last profitable feature. Pre production is where your profit is made, production and post production is where you loose it.
