Kem Welch

My first production experience was a puppet show, I think I was 8 or 10… Then Jim Henson happened and changed everyone’s world. I started my first band when I was 12 and played music all my life since. My longest band life was over 20 years in a Beatle’s cover band, HELP!, who played solely to raise funds for charities. I’ve worked in technical illustration, advertising, TV, commercial production, film, and stage theater. I spent approximately 1-1/2 years creating characters for a sticker company, Starbrite Design, in New Jersey. Fun job, and my art was seen around the world and in the USA in Spencer’s, k-mart, etc. One of my life’s most rewarding moments was finally producing my Christmas musical, “Kem Welch’s Heart of Christmas.” I only developed it, on and off, during my lunch times back during the 90s. I don’t recommend that - it took nearly 20 years! The show was produced various times in 2013 and 2015 to delighted audiences. I’m sure we’ll do it again soon, and I found a lot of new friends who have become more like family. I have finished 9 screenplays, two of which placed in the upper 9% of over 4000 entries of Scriptapalooza and Blue Cat competitions. I’ve written several short stories, two YA novels, and currently you can find my fun cartoon work in Mark Beasley’s “It’s Me, That’s Who,” book on Amazon.
