About Thomas

Thank you STAGE 32 for the opportunity for Writers such as myself to profile our talents within this tough Film industry.
Some say, I am a success story still being written others could care less. As an Author and Screenwriter who has survived grueling nights of script writing, I would have to agree with what some say.
My love affair with writing began while I was a Business Major studying at Drexel University. Several of my college professors gave my writing high praise and told me they enjoyed reading my papers. Professors' complements began to spark my writing interests. Unfortunately, around that same time I ran into some troubles with the law and was sentenced to two years in prison. My collegiate career would have to wait while I paid my debt to society.
During my incarceration, I decided to put my skills to use and practice the talents I'd been praised for while attending college. I came up with a concept that would be the basis for my first screenplay and novel. Since I didn’t know how to structure a screenplay, I had a young lady I knew send me David Trottier’s “Screenwriter’s Bible” as well as a few other books on composing a screenplay. I studied all of them from front to back. Upon the completion of my two-year bid, I’d written seven complete screenplays.
Upon my re entry into society and now that I was home from prison, I decided to convert one of my completed screenplays into a novel and embark upon a career as an Author. Normally a novel is written and a screenplay is adapted from the novel. I felt my screenplay about two detectives and a Glock Nine Millimeter that's passed around the city of Philadelphia would read well as a book. While writing the novel, I met an independent publisher who loved the story and decided to publish it. The novel is called “Murder With A Deadly Weapon” and was critically acclaimed.
After the release of “Murder With A Deadly Weapon” in 2008 and due to bad business practices by my previous publisher, I decided to take some time off to really learn the book publishing industry and take my career into my own hands. Over the course of several years layoff and learning the industry inside and out, I have written close to 8 more additional novels. If you let me tell it, I'm just awaiting the right opportunity to unleash the stories fans of Murder With A Deadly Weapon have been awaiting. The new books will soon be released under my own publishing company called Live2Die Publishing. In concurrence with the novels I've written, the adapted screenplays are attached. I am a visionary leading the title of the Author into the next generation. I figure why settle for just having my books on the shelves? The new media age has plenty of options from e-books to Web series to independent book adapted films to Audio books and so on. I am prepared to reap the benefits of everything and experience the pitfalls of film making. Anyway, I will remain assertively patient in the meantime. If you have a budget and should need a reliable writer, email me @thmsoverton@. We can construct a master piece. Seriously.
