CUPID'S BOW (FEATURE)
By Michael L. Fawcett

GENRE: Horror
LOGLINE: After a mentally ill archer kills three persons spending the weekend in a mountain cabin, the four survivors realize they must go into the forest and kill the archer or be picked off one by one.

SYNOPSIS:

College students Kendra and Lachelle (African-American) are on the way to a mountain cabin owned by Kendra’s Uncle Jim, a psychiatrist. They pick up three students from their school who are having car trouble: Quincy (African-American), a horn-rimmed intellectual, Darren, an affable jock, and Daniel, a brainy Korean-American. Kendra invites them to the cabin. At the cabin, the students settle in, make margaritas and prepare a spaghetti dinner. Uncle Jim will arrive later as will his friend Ranger Bob. Uncle Jim arrives and is delighted to be surrounded by so many young people. As he is carrying supplies into the cabin, he is struck in the back by an arrow. He dies shortly thereafter. The students hang a sign in a window to warn Ranger Bob about the crazed archer. Even so, two arrow shots barely miss him. Ranger Bob is sure the archer is Uncle Jim’s former patient and lover Ana Cupido. The two even have a child. Uncle Jim had planned to tell Kendra all this over the weekend. Ana is a crack archer because her father owned an indoor archery range in Cincinnati. During the night Ana (she’s an electrical engineer) disables their cars and leaves a note on one saying how she will relish hunting them down. She signs it “Cupid”. Ranger Bob and the students discuss the possibility of rowing across the lake to a road that leads to a village, but after another close shave, he determines that the rowboat has been scuttled. They can’t escape otherwise because there are cliffs and canyons behind the cabin, and the nights are getting very cold. They decide to file out of the cabin in the dead of night and walk to the two-lane highway and down the mountain. They have a Glock pistol and a .30-30 Winchester. They finally get to the highway. Suddenly a siren goes off and a spotlight comes on. Ranger Bob is killed. Cupid chases Darren through the trees on a motorbike. The next day Cupid kills Lachelle through the kitchen window as she sits in the cabin. The four remaining students realize they must kill Cupid, or she will eventually pick them off one by one. They drink a bottle of whiskey for courage and fan out toward the ridge where they think she is camped. Now it starts to get dicey.
