A single father separated from his daughter by a near-fatal accident fights through amnesia to start searching for what's missing in his life while deep down inside, his daughter knows she's been missing something as well.
SYNOPSIS:
Chris has been raising his daughter by himself since her mother passed away a few years ago. On a special day Chris plans for Krista, he takes her to her favorite place at the river, and then into town to visit a jewelry store where he buys her a locket. Later that evening after watching a movie together on the couch, Chris hears the rain and wonders if he left the windows down in the car.
The dark silhouette of a man with an umbrella leaving the house is the last Krista saw of her father. After a near-fatal accident separates Chris from his daughter, he awakens nine years later with amnesia. Trying to put his life back together, he knows he’s missing something. All he can do is move forward one step at a time, picking up a trade in furniture repair. Then, he discovers an interest in painting.
In the meantime, fate has a way of finding Krista a home. Maggie and Gilmer have the best of intentions, but they figure things out as they go. Gilmer is always brewing up something for Krista and himself to get into while Maggie is only trying to make sure that Krista makes it through her childhood.
An apparition of a little girl soon starts haunting Chris even while he is awake. He captures scenes of her on canvas, but he can’t figure out what connection they have. While he paints who he has affectionately started calling Angel, she becomes more real to him. While he keeps paintings of Angel hidden in a private room, he paints landscapes and buildings that he sells to his interested furniture customers.
One day, Chris is visited by a beautiful art dealer named Amy. She proposes to sell his paintings, which is met with skepticism. To his surprise, his paintings fly off the walls. In all this time, Chris discovers he has a daughter and it agonizes him that she is out there somewhere in this world all by herself.
Throughout these years, Chris has developed an entire life with a girl he knows only through his paintings. While they remain locked up in their private room, his other paintings have gained notoriety throughout the art community as the "Insider's Secret." The exposure he is getting brings him face to face with Maggie and a teenage girl named Krista.
Will the chance encounter bring them together or push them apart? He didn't know he was looking and she didn't know she needed found.
