Born and raised in Los Angeles, Phred Tinampay has been working in the multi- media industry for over 30 years. While chasing a degree in Graphics & Design from Northridge University, Phred was given a try out as a contestant for a game show on his 18th birthday. He failed to make the final cut but the producers so enjoyed his energy and candor they hired him as runner for the CBS pilot. After that job, the bright lights of the Hollywood Biz hooked him. In between schooling he worked on game shows, commercials, sit-coms and live theater as well as part-time gigs for Taylored Art Designs, Jay Wolpert Productions and Motown Records. By the time he turned 21, he had worked for CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX. With all this exposure to the entertainment industry, subsequently, Phreddy was privileged with the rare opportunity to extensively train at both BELOW (technical) and ABOVE (creative)–THE-LINE aspects of production. Whether it was in film, video or audio many times Phred was hired to work behind and in front of the cameras and microphones.
During his first 12-years as a media journeyman Phred has amassed many accomplishments. He boasts to have “professionally”, destroyed several “Mr. Bills”, (the clay character from Saturday Night Live) for Dreamsite Productions, shot Motion-Control Cameras for Good Morning America for over six-years, shot remote Camera for Professional Bull Riders, voice-over announced for Barry Manilow Direct, Supervised the Call Center for “Unsolved Mysteries” and recently, as Story Board Artist for “Annoying Orange” . He has also earned several awards, to name a few: a first place finish at the Austin Film Festival in 1985, a technical Emmy nomination in 1989, a finalist trophy in the 1997 “Tektronix Creative Challenge”. He was also a finalist for scriptwriting at the Santa Clarita Film Festival in 2001.
In 1994, while maintaining many of his Freelance Clients, Phred became a full time staff member for Kappa Studios in Burbank, California. After two years, he was promoted to Director of Operations and has managed projects under the Kappa Studios banner, which includes DVD bonus features (The Making Of...) for Universal, Sony/MGM, Warner Bros. and Disney. He also has many regular clients for television: ESPN SportCentury, ABC’s Good Morning America, A & E’s Biography, Discovery Channel, Lifetime and GSN.
