About Cypress

Cypress is a bilingual (English/ Mandarin) writer with keen knowledge and passion in creating captivating content for a global audience. Her experience in the realm of storytelling extends from TV, films, documentaries, as well as non-scripted talk shows.

While in China, she was a playwright for Nanking Drama and Film Arts Institution, and a script consultant for Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, one of China’s biggest networks.
She moved to Los Angeles in 2014, where she continues to write for Chinese film and TV productions through China’s leading studio Huace Film & TV, working on Chinese-language scripted dramas The Monster (CAA), Just One Shot, and Bailong Museum.

On the America front, she is now a development consultant at Son of a Gun Picture company, founded by Simon O'leary(13) and Braulio Mantovani (City of God), providing development notes and other creative services on multiple high level feature projects.
Before this, she was a staff writer at SC Productions LLC, not only writing for company’s many movie projects, including Unit 731, Lovely, and Shanghai Love Story, but also in charge of the company’s development department, evaluating and acquiring new projects for the company’s film slate.
She served as a story editor on US China coproduction movie Cult of the Tiger Mom, starring Gong Li, which is in pre-production stage and set to be released in both US and China early next year.

She also worked in development for Mason Novick (Juno, producer), and Radiant Films International, evaluating scripts, providing notes and acquiring projects.
