Stuart Mellor

I've worked with a small grass roots theatre company since early 2013 providing them with music for a number of productions and educational shows. My expertise as a composer is placed both in practice as an electronic music producer and my studies at the University of Leeds for my Master of Arts by Research in composition. I have a broad range of compositional styles that have been developed through over 14 years worth of experience as a classical trombonist, playing in a variety of groups from small soul bands to large scale orchestras. I am interested in more modern styles of music and have a large body of work that explores creating immersive sound environments in the theatre that explore both musical and non-musical soundscapes. I am experienced in listening and responding to the creative requirements of a theatre company to quickly find solutions to their sonic needs. I have a wide breadth of knowledge of musical styles and possess strong research skills that help me get to grasps with any proposed idea. Furthermore, I particularly enjoy engaging with a company to identify the core motivations and intended emotions, messages, narratives so that I can accurately transfer them into the music.
