About Kim

Hello! I am a SAG-AFTRA actor, who is also a trained dancer, swordfighter (stage), and screenwriter. I am looking to connect with all sorts of creatives for work opportunities/collaborations, and build new friendships.

I started out in Orlando working in various attractions and theme parks as an actor or dancer. I was a dance captain at Universal Orlando animated department, leading morning warmups and teaching show choreography. Shortly after 9/11 the entertainment budget was cut so our show got cancelled.

I needed a change so I moved to NYC in 2003. I performed in a dinner theatre (Jekyll & Hyde Club) where I got my AEA card, and auditioned a lot as a dancer/singer for Broadway shows. No luck, but was happy to know I could keep up with the dance auditions and going on auditions that frequently helped me pick up choreography faster so that was helpful at least. I took some acting/improv/ and voice classes at HB Studios before I couldn't handle another wet and frigid NYC winter.

I finally made the move to Los Angeles in 2008. I wish I'd moved here fifteen years before I did, but better late than never. About a month after I moved here I joined a live performance comedy-adventure pirate show troupe, Pirates for Hire, which I still perform with at various events and fairs.

A couple of years ago I decided to write some shorts to self-produce whenever I have enough money left over from my bartending jobs. I produced my very first one, Lynch and Chrighton, which stars myself as a character I created for Pirates for Hire, Kitty Lynch, a feisty Irish Pirate, and Rachel Creighton as Cleodhna Chrighton, a Scottish-English pirate.

As far as my "passion project" feature screenplay, ScareActor, I had always wanted to write something about my experiences working as an actor in haunted houses. I didn't know exactly how I wanted to approach it or what to include. But after seeing the film Adventureland, I thought that tone would be ideal, because much of my story was taken from old journals I'd kept from 1995-1999 while working first as a scare actor at Terror on Church Street, and then Skull Kingdom, two professional year-round haunted attractions that each used to operate in Orlando. As an angsty 20-something year old, most of those journal entries consisted of romantic angst, so I made sure to add tons of comedy to balance out the story, turning it into dramedy with lots of dark comedy. The haunts I worked for were of a family-friendly nature, so while attention to makeup/costumes/set detail was very elaborate and authentic as possible for the horror aspect, there was always comedy in our guest interactions. I worked with many of Orlando's talented stage actors and improvisors, and it was a learning experience in so many ways that I had to write about it.
