In 1999, Ryen received his first professional opportunity during his Senior year of High School, directing the PSA, What are You Waiting For? The PSA aired on NBC 10 news, student voices segment and encouraged youth to register to vote. In 2004 Ryen graduated with a BA at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking (Directing discipline). Since graduating, he directed 7 short films, free-lanced steadily in the film, TV and music video industry; wearing many professional hats in the Production, Art and Locations Dept. In 2006, he joined INSP as an Associate Producer and in 2010 moved onto Halogen TV as one of the full time Producers on the shows like Tainted Love and Roadworthy. The film directing bug never left Ryen and in 2008, he managed to balance his TV career with directing his first feature film, Sunset. Sunset went on to earn the 2008 ICVM Crown Award for Best Screenplay and Drama Produced under $250,000. Continuing his routine of wearing many hats, Ryen now manages to balance his life as a husband, father and in 2012 joinedNew Daydream Films in where he’s expecting to produce several up in coming projects including Waiting for Butterflies and his second feature film as director, Nowhere.
