About Zachary

Writer and Director Zachary Rothman was born in Winnipeg, Canada and educated at the University of
Manitoba, University of Havana Cuba, The Winnipeg Film Group, and Video In Studios. He lives in Vancouver,
Canada.

Zac has been making films for over ten years – a diverse body of work including sci-fi film and Crazy8s winner, Alchemy and Other Imperfections (Crazy8s Film Society), horror film Lost (Manitoba Arts Council), comicfantasy Electric Messiah (BC Arts Council), existential comedy My Own Partridge Family (National Film Board of Canada) and
dance film Shifting Ground.

Rothman’s numerous non-fiction credits include Games of the North
(Starseed Media, PBS), Blowdown (Parallax, Global, National Geographic)
and several educational films.

Alchemy has just been nominated for 7 Leo Award Nominations, including best film, director, screenwriter. It has also been nominated for 2 Golden Sheaf Awards at the 65th annual Yorkton Film Festival.

When he isn’t writing or filming something, Zac can usually be found in a canoe somewhere.
