About Jennie

Jennie Mintz is an L.A. native and alum of University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received a BA in Theater. Her time in Wisconsin inspired her to write a feature length fish out of water comedy entitled BIG BESS. She continued to pursue her love of comedy at the Groundlings School, where she honed skills to create her web series, MAKING IT. She writes, directs, produces, edits, and stars in the series. Her pilot, MAKING IT, which is an extension of the series, was recently accepted into the second round of the Sundance Episodic Story Lab.

Inspired by her introduction into filmmaking, Jennie continued to collaborate with the woman who shot the first three episodes of MAKING IT. Together, they co-wrote a pilot (DRY SPELL) which they also co-wrote/directed two proof of concepts for (AMERICAN POISON and ODE TO THE UNKNOWN). ODE TO THE UNKNOWN was selected for the Superhero Short Film Festival and screened in Downtown Los Angeles.

They continued their collaboration on a music video, NASTY WOMEN, which Jennie wrote, directed, acted in, produced, and edited. NASTY WOMEN features a diverse group of women who use their sexuality as power to stand up to the Patriarchy. Working alongside a group of fierce, diverse women was extremely empowering and an experience she will never forget.

Jennie taught herself how to edit on Premiere by watching YouTube videos. NASTY WOMEN represents her editorial debut and got the attention of her current manager, Amy Schiffman, at Intellectual Property Group. After watching NASTY WOMEN and MAKING IT, Amy was struck by Jennie’s ability to wear so many hats as a filmmaker and an actress.

She was recently invited to be a part of WhoHaha's Creative Network and couldn't be more excited to meet and collaborate with other badass female filmmakers. As someone who enjoys all aspects of filmmaking, she is having the time of her life creating her own content. That said, in addition to working on MAKING IT, she is currently writing a feature, which she will act in and direct. Bring it on!

Unique traits: Resourceful, bold, driven, optimistic, and determined. Comfortable on both sides of the camera. I'm able to be free, in the moment, and creative, while also organized, punctual, and highly responsible. I get what I want done. Let's just say, I've got gumption.
