My name is Shahana Khan and I am a 28 year old Director, Producer, Editor, Videographer and Cinematographer. I began my work behind the camera when I created a web series on YouTube which garnered a viewership of over 400,000 views worldwide. I wrote and shot the series alongside my co-creator and realizing my passion in this particular field, I moved to Cape Town, South Africa to take the Diploma in Film & Television Production Technique at CityVarsity School of Media & Creative Arts.
I then was hired to work on Coke Studio - a fusion based music show produced by the Coca Cola Company and Frequency Media which has produced content on YouTube garnering viewerships of over 24 million views. I operated as the International Production Manager, the Editorial Supervisor and the Assistant Behind-The-Scenes Producer. Here my responsibilities consisted of initiating and executing production tasks from day to day schedules to managing budgets and contracts in seven countries, shooting Behind-The-Scenes footage and then later editing these into packages that would be released both online and on television, and finally writing all editorial content for the show which included all press related details.
I then relocated to New York City where I have shot several short films of which a film I directed for the Asian American Film Festival's 72 Hour Shootout 2014 was selected in the Top 20 out of over 400 global submissions. The film entitled 'Paper Dolls' was then televised in the U.S.
My past professional experiences have been in a variety of fields. I have worked in Event Management, Real Estate, Sales & Marketing, Radio Network, as well as having opened a community space for the arts and culture based in Pakistan therefore I've evolved over time to develop an outlook that keeps me always on the go and dedicated to seeing my commitments flourish.
With my career in the Media industry spanning over a decade, I have worked in various production capacities in countries such as Pakistan, Turkey, Serbia, Italy, South Africa, Thailand, Kazakhstan and the United States.
