THE GYPSY CHILDREN
By Sara Caldwell

GENRE: Horror
LOGLINE:

Carley Mitchell almost lost her son Toby to a terrible accident and her husband to another woman. Now, on a vacation to Spain meant to heal the family's wounds, all hope for happiness seems dashed when a band of urchins lure Toby away and disappear with him into the streets of a strange city.

SYNOPSIS:

Carley’s life is in crisis after she discovers her husband’s affair and her 7 year-old son, Toby, almost dies from a poisoning accident. The family attempts to heal on a trip to Spain, landing in the old Roman city of Tarragona. Toby becomes fascinated by gypsy children camped near their hotel and plays with them at a crowded parade. But in moments, they all disappear. Carley rushes after Toby, but becomes lost and disoriented while the elusive gypsy children grow increasingly violent.

Carley finds support in Sergio, a kindly museum curator who guides her to the police. However, the detective seems unwilling to help and her husband, Aidan, acts suspiciously. His possible involvement in Toby’s disappearance – seemingly aided by a local mafia - is heightened when he tricks her into going to a hospital, where she is immediately restrained. Carley’s theory: Aidan pretended to reconcile and arranged this trip in order to prove her ‘crazy’ and gain full custody of their sons. She manages to escape and takes refuge with her only ally, Sergio.

But soon, the mafia kidnaps Carley and seek a ransom for her return. When she manages to escape, she finds Toby and the children and chases them to Sergio’s museum. It’s here that she discovers the dark truth about Toby’s disappearance with the mysterious children, and Aidan’s true motivation for bringing her to Spain.
