I want to change the world through media. From 2012 through 2014 I worked teaching high school English at a Native Hawaiian School in Waianae Oahu through Teach For America. There, I helped develop a joint venture with the local public media organization - Ōlelo - to provide a voice to the underrepresented native students. I spearheaded the development of the school’s drama program, working closely with students to write and produce an original musical based around life in the community. My students later went on to win 7 out of 11 available student emmys for films they had made.
After all this, I traveled to LA to pursue an MFA in film production at USC. Today, I run an underground theater space in downtown Los Angeles fostering new works that push boundaries and comment on social inequality.
