About Layla

Layla O’Shea was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. After hours of playing baseball and running around pretending to be Superman, she grew up, went to college, graduated with an English/Communications Degree, worked full-time while raising three young kids until she discovered the art of the screenplay. Now, in addition to working full-time, she sets her clock for 4:55 a.m. (often actually getting up), splashes water on her face and writes until it’s time to go off to the “real” job.

Since immersing herself in screenwriting a couple of years ago, she’s completed two features, THE INVISIBLE NOOSE and JUST SAY GOODBYE, as well as a couple of shorts, BLOSSOMS MALIGNED and DEATH BY HIBACHI. Each script has advanced in various competitions, including The Page Awards, The Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition, and most recently as a finalist in the FilmMakers International Screenwriting Awards. Since attending the AFF conference in 2011, she’s more determined than ever to forge her way into the business and make films that move people.
