Ever since I can remember, I have always been comfortable and at ease in front of a camera. To me, modeling and acting are not only entertaining, but are beautiful expressions of art that should be shared with the world! Each model/actor/actress brings their own unique style of expression to the art of entertaining, allowing so many different types of people to share in the experience with them.
For me, it’s about expressing yourself and feeling beautiful and powerful in your own skin; not just with special effects or makeup, but more of expression of inner beauty. Despite the makeovers and characters we play, your inner light should shine through. I want to be the kind of entertainer that shows you don’t need to change who you are on the inside to be successful. Everyone stands for something. Everyone should follow their heart and their dreams. Even though in this field we play different characters and take on different roles, if you stay true to who you are, your inner light will encase your exterior, only making you shine brighter.
On a personal level, I am a giver. The trials and tribulations I have overcome most certainly contribute to that. As a survivor of domestic abuse, I spend my time speaking for those who cannot be heard - silenced women, abused animals, those who are bullied… no one should ever feel unsafe in their own skin. No one should ever have their inner light dimmed. I work very closely with women’s shelters, the ASPCA, and other anti-bullying organizations to make sure no one ever feels like I felt and to ensure that everyone shines as brightly as they deserve to shine.
My father is and always will be my source of inspiration. He and my mother rescued me from an orphanage in Bombay, India when I was only 6 months old. As a young child, I was made fun of never seemed to fit in anywhere. I felt insecure and out of place. It wasn’t until I started acting and modeling that I started to fall in love with myself. I found my voice, I found my strength, I found my confidence. And no, it wasn’t because of the makeup or the costumes… I found my own voice while having to imitate others. Roopa was a shy, scared little girl. And Roopali is the strong women I have become.
My inner light says a lot about me. I’m determined. I’m hardworking. I’m down to earth but know what I want out of life and how to get it. My personality is larger than life. I refuse to give up on my dreams. Right before my father passed away, I made a promise to him that no matter what stood in my way, I would conquer all obstacles and would never forget about my hearts passions.
I know have the skills, attitude, and drive that any agent, agency, casting director, or directors are looking to represent. I have 12+ year experience in the field and know I will have many more. Take a chance on me, you won’t regret it :)
