When a US military agent captures a rogue superhuman with the ability to predict the future, she sets off a cataclysmic chess game of cause and effect!
SYNOPSIS:
The Powerbroker is a high-stakes chess game of counterintelligence between a superhuman with the ability to predict the consequences of any action, and those US military agents charged with capturing him alive. The US government wants the Powerbroker for his ability to trigger the complex chain reactions that turn ordinary people into superhumans. What the Powerbroker wants in return is a mystery, and one with world-changing implications...
On an undercover mission to verify The Powerbroker's identity, to confirm intelligence about his superpowers, and to bring him into custody, Agent Carly Truesdeed of the Defense Intelligence Agency starts a game of "cat and mouse" that could change the face of our world forever. Is the military containing a potentially catastrophic threat, are they utilizing this man's mind-bending gifts to secure our nation's future, or are they playing right into the Powerbroker's hands? The only rules of this game are "cause and effect," and the future of our world belongs to the winner.

Thank you for the rating, Judith. This was my pass at giving managers the "international thriller" that everyone's always looking for. Complete with Liam Neeson-type role, James McAvoy-type role, and female actor of the month-type role to make foreign sales as easy as possible... but for all the grit and worldbuilding, it works on the level of a chess game. I actually came from the stage, myself.

The concept sounds really interesting, but I think "she sets off a dangerous game of fate versus free will" is vague.

This sounds like an upgrade of the first season of Heroes.

Thank you for the feedback, Maurice! I'm hoping that explaining that The Powerbrokers powers involve predicting the future at least suggest that we're talking about a chess game of cause and effect... and maybe I just need to say that!

B A Mason, it's hard to say whether that's a compliment or not... but I'll take it! I do think the script and the film both deliver something very different from the show, more akin to an international thriller that runs on Marvelesque comic book logic. While the story's more "Nolanesque," I think the film that comes closest tonally is Winter Soldier.

I forgot to mention, folks, that The Powerbroker was a semi-finalist in last year's Stage 32 Happy Writers Screenplay Competition!
I'm working on replacing my script doctor work with work-for-hire, so I'm using Coverfly more and I'm getting more aggressive about using screenplay competitions as marketing tools.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!
