About Rita

I have been writing for what seems like my whole life but only the last 10 have been dedicated to screenwriting. I enjoy filmmaking and have written, produced and edited several short films. I have several scripts in various stages of progress, one of which is due to enter pre-production sometime next year. I have a novel on Amazon called THE MARTYR, and the screenplay nearly done. I live near Phoenix in a small town nobody would know, am a widow and enjoy painting, jewelry making and rock hounding.

The Accounting (2016)
Film by Deborah Kay (Fantasy and Short) Producer/Writer Immediately following a head-on collision with an oncoming car, John Wellington finds himself in an "other-worldly" place where he is confronted by entities who require him to answer for the deeds he has done while living. Confused, John explains that he is a Christian and this is all a mistake. But the entities continue with the examination via "film clips" of his works and deeds. Though not bad, he realizes his motivations for all his "good works" were entirely selfish. He is then thrust into utter darkness and only after a humbling confession is he visited by Jesus Christ Himself. The Accounting shines light on the true works of a human while living in the world and what really matters in this life.
Charlie (2012)

That night, after a terrible fight, Abbey wakes Monet in the middle of the night and they flee, hopping a bus to anywhere but there. At the first major stop, Abbey's purse is snatched and Charlie appears in the form of a homeless man to lead them to safety. Abbey mistrusts Charlie, despite Monet's insistence that Charlie was sent to help them and ends up at a mission. Monet becomes very ill and Abbey overhears the mission director discussing them with the police. Terrified, she runs from the mission, more lost than ever and finally accepts Charlie's help.
