Jeff Butta is a composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, sound designer, and educator. With experience in a multitude of genres, Jeff has garnered a reputation for his refined and gripping style of composition, as well as performance. His abilities have led him to study under a number of musical giants, including; Mulgrew Miller, Cecil Bridgewater, Rich Perry, Scott Wendholt, Jim Rotondi, GRAMMY award winning composer and arranger Pete McGuinness and Rolling Stones trumpeter Kent Smith.
Jeff’s talents have afforded him opportunities to perform at a number of festivals and concert halls across the United States, including; NJPAC, the historic Tarrytown Music Hall, Killborn Hall, and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center. Having spent years playing in numerous orchestras, ensembles, bands, and various creative situations, Jeff possesses an invaluable understanding of how to work with musicians and individuals from all walks of life, coupled with the talent to write for numerous and varying settings.
In addition to composing, Jeff has worked as a sound engineer and in 2014 assisted Phil Bulla in recording the likes of Ted Nash, Sara Caswell, Russ Kassoff and Dennis Mackrel. In conjunction, he has been recorded in a number of acts, ranging an expanse of genres; from Jazz, to Classical, Funk, Hip-Hop, Pop and Experimental Rock. Jeff has gone on to perform with 14 time GRAMMY award winner Pacuito D’Rivera, Jazz legend and GRAMMY award winner Benny Golson, Joe Lovano, Steve Wilson, Pete McGuinness, Rhoda Scott, Rich Perry, Vincent Herring, and GRAMMY winning vocal group The New York Voices.
Having worked extensively as a Performer, in 2014 Jeff shifted his focus to Film, Video Game, and Media Composition. Since, he has become a composer in increasingly high demand, scoring for Short Film, TV, and various Media, as well as, Commercial and Video Game. Jeff currently resides in the Hudson Valley, New York.
