About David

I have lived my passion for entertainment technology since I talked my way onto a TV remote production truck at age 9.

In my college years, after leaving uncompleted studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering to begin some kind of career, I worked in live and recorded music for 10 years as an audio engineer. This turned into being hired at ESPN studios in the audio track which I converted into a technical directing path. Preferring the nomadic remote production life, I left ESPN and set out as a freelance technical director in sports television production, quickly working my way up to the top tier of live sports television production including the NFL (on FOX) and US Open Tennis (on USA)..

At the end of 2001, coinciding with a life change, I headed West. In Los Angeles I was soon getting calls to TD entertainment shows and events which introduced me to a welcome smorgasbord of new and interesting challenges on a daily basis. The possibility of becoming a post colorist had provided some impetus for moving West and soon after arriving I took a Kodak cinematography workshop and a DaVinci Resolve class. Both sparked a strong interest in the post production world, but the excitement of live production still sang its siren song.

Fast forward to the pandemic and for a brief while I had some time on my hands so I spent it getting re-acquainted with DaVinci and learning everything I could about UnRealEngine. I have recently been fortunate in working as a TD on a few XR productions including the VMAs and Spotify Justin Bieber.

Current consistent clients include "American Idol" and "Dancing With The Stars" (as Screens Director) and a slew of shows from "The Titan Games" to "Impractical Jokers Dinner With America" (as Technical Director).
