About Steve

Steve Garrin is a Producer/Manager and the founder of the highly acclaimed VoiceWorks® voiceover workshop.

Steve started in show business in 1986 as a performer, director, and producer of voiceovers. He then moved on to producing, directing, recording, and editing radio programs and books on tape. Eventually, his company, VideoActive Productions, (1989-2010) expanded to become a full-service digital audio-video production and post-production house. In 1997, Steve won an EMMY Award.

Steve is proficient as a digital editor on the Sonic Solutions & Logic Pro 9 Digital audio recording, editing, mixing and CD mastering systems, Media 100 & Final Cut Studio 2 HD digital video editing systems.
Some of Steve's video editing credits include Behind the Scenes, on George Benson CD, "Absolute Benson", trailer for the soundtrack of "Before Night Falls", from Julian Schnabel's Academy Award nominated film & Diana Krall & The London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. He has edited film footage of vintage performances for a DVD and marking Glenn Miller's centennial anniversary. Steve is also worked on similar editing projects for Fats Waller, Artie Shaw and Duke Ellington commemorative DVD's.
Steve recorded and produced interviews for Joe Franklin's Bloomberg radio program. Some of his other clients included: PBS, MTV, VH-1, TVLand, HBO, A&E, NPR, Time Warner, AT&T, Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Cisco Systems, Acision, Dover Audio, Simon & Schuster Audio, RCA/BMG/Arista, Universal Studios, and Universal Music Group.
Steve wrote a screenplay along with co-writers, Rich Herschlag and the legendary comedian, Pat Cooper. Entitled, "The Bodyguard's Bodyguard", it is based on the life story of Tony Del Vecchio, the bodyguard of Jilly Rizzo (Frank Sinatra's bodyguard). Steve was also the casting director for three independent films: "Big Apple", "Committed" and "Shoe Store Romeo", (2007 release). He worked on the "Aristocrats" with Paul Provenza and "Make 'Em Laugh" with Michael Kanter/PBS. He recorded, directed and edited Broadway legend, Carol Channing reading her autobiography, "Just Lucky, I Guess". Steve's book, "Pat Cooper- How Dare You Say How Dare Me", co-authored by Rich Herschlag, foreword by comic legend, Jerry Lewis, published by Square One is available on and at fine book sellers everywhere.
Steve has also been a businessman and a sales manager for various leading companies in the restaurant and hotel industry.
He is currently a licensing partner of Joe Franklin's Comedy Club along with operating partner, Dennis Riese of the Riese Organization. He just finished producing a successful 14 month run of "Vince Giordano and His Nighthawks Orchestra on Broadway", (Vince Giordano did the music for the last six Woody Allen movies, appears in and performs on the music soundtrack for Scorcese's "The Aviator", and on HBO's Hit series Boardwalk Empire). Steve produced Rock concert events with his long time friend and associate, Little Steven Van Zandt at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone in NYC and Las Vegas. Steve is a voting member of NARAS, NATAS, SAG & AFTRA.
