About John

John Morrissey is a film producer, writer, teacher and actor. His feature length documentary, ‘The Murder In Mansfield’, directed by 2-time Oscar winner Barbara Kopple, debuted at DOC NYC and IDFA in Amsterdam in November 2017. It is currently making the rounds of documentary festivals.

John produced AMERICAN HISTORY X. The film’s star, Edward Norton, was nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award while this edgy tale of moral descent and redemption also featured outstanding performances by Edward Furlong, Beverly D’Angelo, Elliot Gould, Stacey Keach and Fairuza Balk.

John’s other films include BOOTY CALL starring Jaime Foxx, HAVOC starring Anne Hathaway, THE BADGE starring Billy Bob Thornton, 11:14 starring Hilary Swank, KINGDOM COME starring Whoopi Goldberg and many others.

John has written and sold several screenplays. As an actor, John appeared both on and off Broadway. He was a contract player on two TV Soap Operas, playing the leading villain on both General Hospital and Guiding Light, as well as a Guest Star on many TV series.

He has been teaching in colleges for several years, including at Columbia College of Hollywood, NYFA and in Istanbul for Turkish Radio & Television. He is currently an Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Film candidate at Vermont College of Fine Art with a screenwriting emphasis and will matriculate in 2018.
