Mike Justice has real issues with Christmas. It’s too commercial and his wife died on Christmas Day because of a Christmas Eve hit and run accident. Christina Mumford doesn’t like Christmas either. She was involved in a Christmas Eve automobile accident that killed her mother and sister and left her father paralyzed, as a thirteen-year-old her debut as Clara in the Nutcracker was a disaster, and she was stood up at the altar by her fiancée on Christmas Eve. Christina is Mike’s boss at the Wakefield Daily Star.

Mike writes an annual Christmas essay that is a major feature of the paper and struggles with it this year.

Mike leads a movement to bring Christ back into Christmas when he is asked “Where is the Line to See Jesus,” by a little boy. Christina and Mike become romantically involved. But Christina must fire Mike because of their dating. After seeing a replay of the news report on his wife's accident, Mike suspects Cristina was involved in the accident.

Mr. Henry, the newspaper owner and former partner with Christina’s father, gets ready to fire Christina until he sees national papers covering the story in a positive way and then offers her the publisher position and she talks him into hiring back Mike as the editor.

Christina goes to tell Mike the good news and sees that he has sold his house. IN the conversation she learns that it was not her but Mr. Henry and confronts him.

Mike and his children distribute Christmas gifts and ends up at Christina’s house. With the help of the kids they kiss under the mistletoe. Mike proposes. Mr. Henry confesses to the police that it was he that killed Mike’s wife and gives the paper back to Christina.
