MY LIFE WITH CATS

MY LIFE WITH CATS
By Bear Kosik

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

A gay professional man from a mixed background contends with sudden big change and turmoil in his life and the lives of the people around him by turning to his cats for support.

SYNOPSIS:

Moss DeMarco, in his thirties, likes to talk to his cats to wind down, although he wonders if he looks crazy doing so. He loves his job in Information Technology for the State of Nevada in the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Alex Romanov, Moss' spouse, was raised in Paris in a Russian family. He has just started a new career as a fashion photographer after years of being a model. Moss has accepted this as long as Alex doesn't talk about the details.

Moss works with two women, Sui-Lin Yang and Angelica Martinez. They like to have their own way like cats do. Sui-Lin is a younger woman who is halfway to becoming a dragon lady. She is particularly lethal when

talking to her boyfriends on the phone. Angelica is counting the days to retirement. Her coworkers can gauge her mood by how much of what she says is in Spanish.

In the pilot episode, their lazy coworker, Artie Katz, is promoted to head IT. After working without a supervisor for almost half a year, Moss and his colleagues feel the position should have been left vacant,

especially since Katz got the job after becoming the newest sexual plaything of the agency commissioner. Katz thinks he has gotten the job on merit. Moss decides to tell Katz the truth in the hope Katz won't want the job. Instead, Katz thinks Moss is jealous and digs his heels in as the new boss.

Meanwhile, Sui-Lin is ticked off that she has to re-take the sexual harassment training. Her understanding of sexual harassment is prejudiced by seeing Katz promoted due to his relationship with the agency head. Angelica goes through the roof when the newest trainee, Rita, quits after her first day. Angelica knows Moss and Sui-Lin are a handful for newbies, but she needs someone to follow her when she retires.

In voicing his problems to his cats, Moss realizes that he ought to try to be interested in Alex’s work if for no reason than it will take his mind off his own work situation.
