In 2016, Chuck Venable began his twenty-second year as an Independent Editor. With over thirty-seven years of experience in all aspects of video post production, Chuck has an established reputation for bringing his own fresh and passionate take to every project. He loves the creative process and editing, and he works tirelessly to deliver the most impressive and effective product possible. More importantly, he values the many long-lasting relationships he has developed with his clients—he now calls friends.
Much of what Chuck enjoys is allowing the product to tell its own story. He has become proficient with the interview driven narrative. He takes the time to listen to the content and puts himself in the audience's place to construct the most convincing story. Music also plays an important role in his storytelling. While an early childhood of music lessons and theory hasn’t produced much of a musician, it has given Chuck an unique sense and feel for the different rhythms that only adds to his already compelling stories. While editing is his passion, Chuck has often times produced and supervised post production as well.
Having started his career in 1979, Chuck has been a part of and has embraced many of the industry’s changes. In 1987, while working as a Senior Editor at Video Post & Transfer, Chuck became the first Non-Linear Off-line Editor in the Southwest utilizing the Montage Picture Processor, the predecessor to all other non-linear systems. In 1993, he became the first Non-Linear Online Editor in Dallas, TX by utilizing Quantel’s Henry. Today, as an Independent Editor, Chuck is proficient in every aspect of Premiere as well as Final Cut Pro, with Avid as a strong third. He has extensive knowledge of After Effects and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products.
Whether crossing technical milestones or developing artistic influences, Chuck’s contributions through the years, and still today, are widespread and can best be seen in the reels provided.
