About Joan

Joan was born in Jerusalem, Israel, and has lived all over the US and a few places outside of it. She speaks Japanese and Spanish, and studied computer programming, digital media, and illustration at Utah Valley University.

When she isn't screenwriting, Joan writes sci-fi novels and swordfights with the Belegarth Medieval Combat Society. She collects back-to-basics skills like soapmaking, animal husbandry, carpentry, and sewing, and makes her own costumes and period armor.

Joan recently debuted on the film scene with a 10 minute thriller, The Activist, which was nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Film at the Red Giant Film Festival and took 2nd in the Audience Choice awards.
