Adam Hussein was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In high school, he watched way too many episodes of The Practice, which led him to pursue a career as a lawyer prior to focusing all his energy on writing.
Throughout his life, Adam always loved to write. This included fictional adventures about him and his friends during elementary school. He also first learned about constructive criticism when the girl he liked read these stories and was immediately disinterested in him.
With the guidance of The Practice, Adam went to law school in Southern California and practiced law for four years, slowly learning along the way that it was the television aspect of The Practice that appealed to him more than the law, a time-consuming and expensive lesson.
Adam continued to write during those years and finally decided to pack up and move back to Canada to attend the writing program at Vancouver Film School. With the full support of his family (yes, Mama Hussein, he’s still sure he wants to do this) Adam set off to pursue his dream.
Adam quickly focused on screenwriting, particularly in the action and crime drama genres . After all, his interest in The Practice had to mean something.
When he’s able to pull himself away from writing, Adam spends his time miserably rooting for his favorite (but struggling) hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers. As they say, great art comes from suffering.
