Jan Hass is a German-American screenwriter, director and film editor from Wiesbaden, Germany, where he grew up in a bilingual and bicultural family. After earning his German Abitur and serving in the military, Jan moved to the US, where he graduated cum laude from the Roy H. Park School of Communication at Ithaca College in 2004. He has worked as a director, trailer producer, vfx-artist and film editor. In 2010, he founded the production company Think Plastic.
Jan has been passionate about telling stories since elementary school where his "creative spelling” overshadowed his creative writing. The dyslectic young writer became more and more discouraged by repeated bad grades. This changed when Jan discovered film.
Since then, he has written several screenplays in addition to his occupation as a trailer producer, editor and vfx-artist. In mid 2015 he decided to steer his company's successful course away from advertising, image and documentary film production toward writing and directing feature films and TV series.
Since June Jan has been fully immersed in producing, directing and currently editing a short film version of his series idea "Reborn Lost" (). Several top tier German actors committed to the low budget production and it’s screenplay. "Reborn Lost's" premiered in December 2016.
Jan currently writes, lives, and works in Frankfurt, Germany.
