D. Scott Mangione was born in 1962 in Concord, Mass. His life has had many stages. He began his journey as a professional musician (keyboards and song writer) where he was able to tour the country and record several albums. He received his Bachelors of Science from UTSA and his Masters in Instructional and Curricular Development from UNLV. He taught science for fifteen years in Las Vegas and Salt lake City. As a teacher he received many educational awards and had the opportunity to teach for NASA. After learning to speak Navajo, he spent two years working in the great Navajo nation. These life experiences has prepared him for the next stage in his life as an author. Completed first screenplay. Presently writing next one. After publishing my first book which is the life story of my father I decided to start writing screenplays. The first screenplay is based on the true story of my Dad when he was nine years old. It takes place two weeks before Christmas in 1949. It is a wonderful Christmas story that it needs to be a movie. It is titled Christmas Cards. My goal is to have ten completed scripts by the end of 2017. Hopefully by then I will have learned enough to create something worthwhile. Christmas Cards is the first. The second one will be done before the end of January. Logline for that one is: Trapped because he has to support his family, a poor Italian boy, 14, in 1955 New York must earn enough money, a college scholarship or a professional baseball contract, to escape his small town existence. I am fortunate to have the time to dedicate all of my time and energy to writing. The learning curve is steep but I hope if I have any talent and stick to my schedule of studying three hours a day and write the rest of the time I may be able to write a story that is worth telling. i do know I enjoy it immensely and believe I have a chance.
