About Emily

Emily Turrini found her calling early in life through Ballet which, upon starting Primary School, she decided it was time to hang up her Ballet slippers and try a different style. Country Dancing made a lasting impression on the young Emily, which propelled her towards the world of Ballroom. Under the guidance of two governing bodies and two excellent teachers, Emily competed in competitions and won awards across the UK. As a result, she landed the opportunity to compete at the famous Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

While training privately in Ballroom and Latin, Emily was extensively trained at Secondary School, excelling in Drama and English. Thus, giving birth to her skills in Acting and Writing. While at Secondary School, Emily regularly wrote for the school newsletter and appeared in every school production. Her talent and dedication to Acting, loved by the English Department, invited her to join the Shakespeare Performance Team at the upcoming Nottingham Shakespeare Society’s competition each year. With a natural love of Shakespeare, Emily agreed and took the role of Hermia in an abridged extract of “A Midsummer Nights Dream.” The school won the award for Best Group Performance, and Emily received the Best Actress Award. She returned the following year as Catherine in the ‘Sun and Moon’ scene from “The Taming of the Shrew,” again she received the Best Actress Award.

On a side note, Emily also took part in a Public Speaking contest at school, receiving joint first with another student. Therefore, she has her name on two shields at the old school; twice on one of them.

Emily furthered her formal education by studying Performing Arts at level three at College (age 16-18). Remaining active outside of her education as an Actor, Dancer, and Model. Emily refused to let the idea of her ego take over and distract her from her long-term goal, a career within the industry she adores, to make sure she always keeps her feet on the ground. Instead, she ventured into supporting charities. Meanwhile, getting experience through a collaboration project headed up by local orchestra Sinfonia Viva, choreographed by contemporary dancer Tom Dale.

After College, she rose through the ranks as she swapped England for France and stage lights for Disneyland Paris. From which she returned a great deal wiser. After taking a break, Emily returned to the stage with fire in her heart. Ibsen’s “Peer Gynt” marked the dawning of a new reinvigorated Emily Turrini as her audition went on all day, recall after recall.

Still dancing competitively all over the country, Deda (formally Derby Dance Centre, UK) called on her to help them out at the last minute to build up numbers in a dance show “Games Time” choreographed by Garry Clarke. She had four days to rehearse.

Before starting University, Emily crossed paths with Nottingham-based actor Fuzzy, who shared details about an agency needing actors for background work, resulting in Emily appearing as a featured background artist close to the stars. This Bollywood was the biggest of the season, produced by Eros International called Teri Meri Khaani.

As an undergraduate at The University of Huddersfield, Emily continued developing one of her screenplays and started working on others. However, she was swamped in 2014 as she juggled her coursework with a project Dark Cleo Productions invited her to collaborate on as the Creative Director. The company aimed to create several live-action stage performances based on prominent video games’ storylines and characters ready for the 2014 Replay Games Expo at Event City Manchester.

Her deadline to have the project performance-ready was four weeks. She took inspiration from two video fight games made into films and married the two together as a cross over with the active question being; if you took a character from Tekken and a character from Mortal Kombat, who would win?

Emily’s imagination and writing skills and the backing from Dark Cleo Productions brought “Tekken vs. Mortal Kombat” to life.

By taking part in this project, Emily gained experience in casting, directing, fight choreography, and some stunt work. On top of her Acting and Writing.

Since graduating from Huddersfield University, Emily has focused mainly on writing and modelling. But, do not be fooled; she is not fading into the distance.

Emily has been doing much charity works for Mental Health charities, Skin Charities, Animal Charities, Health Charities, and she is a Pen Friend with the organisation LifeLines who do incredible work to help prisoners on Death Row. She writes as often as she can, and her novel is being enjoyed, chapter by chapter on the inside. She has featured in Authority Magazine as a Rising Star and written a brief “How To..” in The Stage Newspaper.

Emily holds an MA in Screenwriting and markets herself as The Gothic English Rose. She is drawn to the Horror and History genres; creating a voice which blends the two within the niche genre of Gothic Cinema.

Film (short) by Scarlett Light Media Screenwriter The company asked for my assistance in creating this short film which was entered into the 60-Hour Colchester Film Festival competition. To qualify certain actions and/or lines of dialogue had to feature in the short film by request of the panel. In this instance, one of the required actions was someone had to put a mobile phone on charge. I received positive feedback from the director of the film Louis Brough, "Emily collaborated with us to produce a short pirate film for a competition. ... Emily bought a real passion for this genre as well as historical knowledge to develop our story further. ...Her insight was very useful but her desire to create a strong female character was priceless to the project."
