SYNOPSIS:

“iKill” is a revenge thriller set in present day. The script placed as a quarter-finalist in the Final Draft Big Break contest as well as the top 20% in Nicholl. The story opens with a woman in her late 20s, NIKKI MILLER, driving carelessly as she texts and talks on her smartphone. Her 3-year-old niece, ALI, rides in the backseat. This leads to a head on collision with another car on a country road that kills the little girl and the other driver, LAUREN SWEENEY. Fast-forward a year later to SHELLEY JENNER, the patrol officer mother of the dead little girl. She has separated from her husband, DETECTIVE BRYCE JENNER, and refuses to forgive her sister for her actions. Early in the morning, exactly one year to the day of that accident, Nikki is sent a text with the message “iKill” right before an unseen person murders her. Returning to work later that morning, Shelley is dispatched to investigate a car that has run off a road where her daughter died. It is there where Shelley discovers her sister’s bloodied body in the car. Despite no official cause of death, she’s convinced this is no accident and vows to find the person responsible for her sister’s murder. As the investigation into Nikki’s death unfolds, one-by-one subsequent victims are sent the same “iKill” message and found with their heads bloodied and phones shattered just like Nikki’s. It’s later discovered that each victim is listed as a contact in Nikki’s phone and that the cause of each death is from blunt force trauma – which is the same cause of death as Shelley’s daughter. Although a rival detective with a grudge, SEAN AVERY, is convinced these murders are linked to either Shelley or Bryce --- the number one suspect in the case is Lauren’s hillbilly husband, HENRY SWEENEY, who has disappeared. After a series of stunning twists and turns, Shelley discovers that each victim exchanged texts with Nikki the morning of the accident and based off clues she’s uncovered – thinks the “iKiller” is not Henry Sweeny, but actually a friend of Lauren Sweeney named CATHY GARDINER. Cathy is a power line technician who had a secret affair with Lauren and sent an anonymous death threat to Nikki. It’s also discovered that Shelley’s husband, Bryce, may be next on the hit list. As Shelley races to Bryce’s house to warn him, Cathy arrives at his house to fix a power outage. When Shelley arrives at the house to warn Bryce, she’s sent a text identifying Bryce as the “iKiller.” Just as a Bryce is about to kill Cathy with his gun, a shot rings out and Bryce falls to the ground. Shelley has just shot her husband. He admits just before he dies that he didn’t do it for her, he did it because he lost his family that morning. We learn that Bryce has orchestrated this entire plot from the start. His plan all along was to frame Cathy for the murders. Shelley surmises that Bryce went crazy after he lost his daughter and his wife. His goal was to shatter the lives of everyone involved that morning like his was shattered.
