About Mark

Mark Morgan began his career in the entertainment industry working as Creative Executive for Ridley Scott, on films such as Thelma & Louise. In early 1995, Morgan joined New Regency where he ran the story department and oversaw films including; Under Siege II, Free Willy, The Client, and A Time To Kill.

In 1996, Morgan was hired at Orion Pictures as Director of Development and was promoted to Vice President of Production in 1997. At Orion/MPCA, Morgan supervised the development, packaging, and production of film projects, including Dumb and Dumber, Beverly Hills Ninja, and Kingpin.

In 1998, the upper management of Orion Pictures split off to form Destination Films, where Morgan was promoted to, and served as, Executive Vice President. There he produced several films including Beautiful, starring Minnie Driver and directed by Sally Field; Slackers, starring Jason Segel (in his first feature), Jason Schwartzman, Devon Sawa, Laura Prepon and Jaime King.
and The Wedding Planner, starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey and directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Bedtime Stories, Rock of Ages), a 1st-time feature director at the time. Morgan gave Shankman his break based on Adam's short which contained no dialogue.

In 2001, Morgan was hired as President by Maverick Films, founded by Guy Oseary and Madonna. Morgan became CEO in 2003, and full partner in 2005. At Maverick, Morgan oversaw the entire Maverick development/production slate, as well as Maverick's studio deals, executive ranks and first-look producer deals. There he produced Agent Cody Banks for MGM, released in March 2003, Agent Cody Banks II, released in March 2004, followed by 30 Days Until I'm Famous, Chasing Christmas, Frostbite, Cruel World, My Sassy Girl, and Material Girls distributed by MGM. Morgan also Executive Produced the critically acclaimed FX series "The Riches," starring Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver, for FX and Fox Television Studios.

In 2008, Morgan bought out his partners’ interest to take full ownership of Maverick Film’s and Maverick TV’s slates, and brought these projects to Imprint Entertainment, which he founded with partner Michael Becker. There Morgan produced The Stepfather for Sony Pictures Entertainment/Screen Gems, Twilight (he had optioned as a yet-unpublished manuscript by Stephanie Meyer) as well as the Twilight Saga sequel New Moon for Summit Entertainment, and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, directed by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter Franchise) for Twentieth Century Fox.

In 2012, Morgan founded Mount Diablo Entertainment, overseeing the company’s development and production slate for film and television; as well as its Studio and Partnership deals, Strategic Alliances, Imprint and Digital. MDE also researches new technologies and their integration within all media, including; film, TV, publishing, internet and gaming projects. Morgan also produced The Twilight Saga sequels Eclipse, Breaking Dawn- Part 1 and Breaking Dawn- Part 2 for Summit Entertainment, as well as Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters for Twentieth Century Fox and Fox 2000.
