Ruben Hornillo is a filmmaker and content creator born in Spain and based in Los Angeles since 2010. His first big project was the feature film God’s Slave, an Argentina-Venezuela-Uruguay co-production that won awards at reputable festivals like Santa Barbara and Huelva Latin American Film Fest and had theatrical distribution. It is now available on Netflix and most streaming platforms. As a Millennial, Ruben started making digital content from its beginnings, producing videos for Youtube as early as 2006 and blogging. Ruben’s passion is social change and multiculturalism, and most of the projects he has lead in YCC have had this focus. He worked in the launch of KBS World Latino, the Spanish-language network of Korea’s public broadcaster, helping adapt their content for Latin American audiences. He is also finishing up his feature documentary Spanish Exile, a crowdfunded YCC production that tells the story of his generation of Spaniards. At the same time, Rubén is leading the way for mobile content in Spanish producing content for La Musica, a music streaming app that publishes 55 video pieces per week.
