Jeana Rodriguez, a confident plus-sized woman who lives in an apartment in Riverside Drive and who is a nude model for the art classes at Columbia University, wakes up and gets ready for work. When she leaves her apartment, she meets Josh Pendleton, her neighbor and best friend. When she gets to the college, Professor Allen, the art teacher, teaches his students about Peter Paul Reubens, the painter who painted nude Rubenesque women and he calls Jeana to come into the classroom and pose for the students, who sketch and paint her likeness.

After she comes home from work, she gets a call from Anna Diaz, her best friend, who is also plus-sized. Anna asks Jeana if she can come over to her apartment. Jeana agrees. When Anna shows up, Anna suggests that they watch a movie together. Jeana suggests that they invite Josh over and Anna agrees. So, Jeana calls Josh and invites him over to her apartment and the three friends watch the movie together. After the movie, Josh tells the girls that he has a date with a girl and leaves the apartment and gets ready for it. Jeana and Anna, on the other hand, decide to go get something to eat at Chez Napoleon.

At the restaurant, the girls enjoy their meals. Carl Manson, who is in the same restaurant and enjoys his meal, watches the girls. Then, as the girls finish their meals and Carl finishes his, the girls leave the restaurant and so does Carl. As Jeana and Anna walk the streets, Carl chases them down and introduces himself to them. He tells them that he is a photographer for a men's magazine that features plus-sized women. He gives the both of them his business card and asks them if they would like to pose for the magazine and if they mind if they pose nude. Jeana and Anna, who don't have a problem with nudity, quickly agree to pose for the magazine. Then, Carl and the girls shake hands and part company. Then, Jeana and Anna part company when they get back to Jeana's apartment.

Jeana decides to visit her family in Brooklyn and when she gets there, she is happy to see Samantha Rodriguez, her mother and Mario Rodriguez, her father in the living room. Jeana is happy to see them, but she gets upset when her parents continue to put her down because of her size. Just then, Julie Rodriguez, Jeana's younger sister, who is also plus-sized, hears her sister and her parents arguing. Then, Samantha and Mario attack Julie's size and then, Julie defends her sister and her own size to them. Then, in a fit of anger, Jeana and Julie leave and go to Jeana's apartment.

Back in Jeana's apartment, she and Julie talk about Jeana getting an opportunity to pose in a men's magazine. Julie is happy for her sister. Then, Jeana calls Anna and invites her to go to a club with her and Julie and while the three girls are at the club, they meet Susan Prescott, a bartender at the club, who is also plus-sized. Then, they meet Jon Andrews, a man who falls in love with Jeana. Jon introduces himself to her and vice versa and Jon and Jeana do a little dance on the dance floor. After that, they exchange numbers and agree to go out on a date. Julie and Anna congratulate her on her accomplishment.

Then, Julie goes back to her parents' home in Brooklyn. Jeana and Anna go back to Jeana's apartment and they decide to call the magazine on the business card that Carl gave them and they find out that they have an appointment at one o'clock. Then, they go to the magazine office and they meet Nikki Randall, the publisher of the magazine and Nikki takes Jeana and Anna to the studio and she introduces them to Randi Martinez, the makeup artist and Joan McCrae, another plus-sized woman who is in charge of the models' wardrobe. Then, Jeana and Anna, who get outfits and robes from Joan, go to the dressing room and change into them and when they come out, Carl takes their photos in various poses and states of undress and finally, nude. After the photo shoot, Nikki gives Jeana and Anna a check for three hundred dollars each and tells them that the magazine with their photos will come out next month. Jeana and Anna are happy and leave the magazine studio and the office and go put their money in the bank and they both go home.

A month later, Jeana comes home from her modeling job at Columbia University and decides to take another risk and goes to her parents' house. Luckily, Julie is the only one there. So, the sisters admire each other in Julie's mirror and Jeana tells her sister about her photo shoot. Julie is happy for her sister. Then, the sisters are quickly shocked when they here her father, who is angry and tells the girls to come in the living room. When they do, Mario asks Jeana about the magazine and why her photos were in it. Then, Jeana defends her photos as her parents continue to tell her that she is overweight and not healthy. Then, in a fit of anger, Jeana and Julie strip out of their clothes and show off their big bodies and Jeana asks her parents what don't they like about her and Julie and mentions their body parts one by one. Silence is heard from their parents. Jeana tells them that they should love her and her sister, no matter what. Then, Mario and Samantha have agreed to do just that and they agreed not to put her, Julie or any other plus-sized woman down ever again.

Then, the family goes to the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum Curator introduces the people to a nude painting of Jeana, which was painted by one of the art students at Columbia University. Among the crowd, Jeana, Mario, Julie and Samantha are seen. Mario praises Jeana and gives her a kiss on her cheek and says that he is proud of her little girl and Jeana is proud of her dad...and herself.
