THEY WERE OUR TIMES
By Michael Rwamunahe

GENRE: Drama, Musical
LOGLINE:

The lives of fourteen people intersect over the course of several days in early 2000 in New York, set to the sounds of pop music. Inspired by the work of Dennis Potter (The Singing Detective, Pennies from Heaven.)

SYNOPSIS:

The lives of a writer, a singer, an actor and actress, a bigoted preacher, and several others intersect over several days in New York City as each of the characters confront a variety of crises, from depression to desire, from prejudice to cynicism, to even the specter of death. In the spirit of the works of Dennis Potter, these characters escape their existence by breaking (or rather, lip-syncing) to classic pop music, reflecting the contract between fantasy and dark realities.
