Nino Abate

I have been writing for film since 1993. After graduating from law school in 1996, I optioned the feature film rights to a best selling non-fiction book about New York Crime Boss Paul Castellano and adapted it for the big screen. The screenplay called "The Pope" had several Hollywood attachments but eventually was passed on by the studios. "Hearing 'no' was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was that experience that convinced me to start to make my owner movies." Since then, I started learning everything I could about independent filmmaking, including cinematography, non-linear editing, and directing. I've worked on projects with several talented local filmmakers as I pursued my own film projects. I am now doing what I've always dreamed I could - writing and directing independent film projects and looking to film my first feature soon!
