A young musician struggling with depression and suicidal tendencies tries to make peace with his troubled childhood by traveling home to care for his estranged preacher grandmother who is being haunted by a dangerous, vengeful spirit bent on making her grandson its next victim.
Young musician, Doug Privett, is tired of running from his pain; after his final gig, he plans to end it all. But when he gets a call that his grandmother, Pastor Privett, has had a stroke, Doug puts family first and travels back home to the town of Holden, Missouri.
In Holden, Doug looks for Cal, his only childhood friend and true love, with the help of Jayleen, Cal’s sister. But with Doug's return, rumors resurface of the Privett family curse that saw Pastor Privett bury a husband and son (Doug’s father) from tragic accidents. To save Doug from becoming the next victim, Pastor Privett confronts the vengeful spirit of a female “witch doctor” whose advances she’d rebuffed while doing missionary work in 1970's Haiti. But when a ritual ceremony to break the curse goes awry, it’s Doug who ends up saving his grandmother.
