A feisty young fisherwoman considers abandoning her quaint east-coast business for a dashing west-coast entrepreneur bent on conquering the online lobster market with her.

Captain Samantha Braddock, owner of Braddocks Best Lobsters, is barely making ends meet with her small-town Maine lobster business, in order to support her sister's medical school tuition.

Pursuing an upscale online lobster sales partnership, entrepreneur Ralston Cooper seeks out Captain Sam on her boat and asks her to dinner, where they discover an instant attraction to each other. Jack Nelson, her high-strung, but lovable friend and co-lobsterman (who has been secretly in love with her for a decade), is suspicious of Ralston and awkwardly tries to hide his jealousy.

Sam has a fit when rumors spread like wildfire in restaurants up and down the coast, that they might no longer be supplied with Braddock's lobsters! After this blowout, Ralston is worried that she might not sell to him. Enter his mother, Eleanor (full of disdain and lots of money), who offers to buy Sam's business outright. Sam refuses: "I will not sell my family legacy!" Torn between building her business (as well as her new relationship) and leaving her loyal customers, Sam's heart tells her she may not have made the right decision, and so she follows Ralston to Los Angeles to sign papers for the merger. Arriving unexpectedly, his secretary informs her that he is away at Lake Tahoe for the weekend with his wife.

Devastated, she returns to Maine, where Jack surprises her with an online website he designed for the business. Having nearly lost her, he reveals his secret feelings, and in an unexpected moment, she realizes she has always felt the same for him.
