About Desireé

Desireé Winns was born in Tokyo, Japan, lived for thirteen years in Collierville, Tennessee and currently lives in Bonn, Germany. She is a high school senior at Bonn International School and a screenwriter. She was a writing finalist for the National Youngarts Foundation for her screenplay “Last Stop”, that was also produced into a film by the YoungArts Foundation. She was also a finalist in the Harlem International Film Festival's Short Screenplay Competition, the 2013 Tennessee winner for the Do the Write Thing Essay Competition, and achieved Gold Key for her writing portfolio in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in January 2018. She has also written, directed and edited two short films- "The Newlyweds", about a wanted criminal escaping the country with the help of her new husband, and "Pain in the Neck", about a 45 year old vampire who is the first of her kind to integrate into an all-human high school. She wants to tell stories that encourage diversity not only with characters of color, but with storylines that allow characters of various backgrounds to become more complex and compelling cinematic figures.
