Jackie Bateman is an author, screenwriter and filmmaker based in Vancouver, Canada. She wrote an award-winning trilogy of psychological suspense novels set in Scotland: Nondescript Rambunctious, Savour, and Straight Circles. Her first YA novel Beauty and the Freak was published in 2022. It was shortlisted for the Int. Yeovil Literary Prize and a finalist for Screencraft Cinematic Film.
Jackie is the writer and director of two award-winning short films: Property and A Parallel Life screened at festivals around the world, including Cannes, Berlin and Austin. She is also developing a short film series called Three Line Stories about B.C.’s memorial benches and their eulogies. Her first feature screenplay Salome Magic was a final selection at the Vancouver Int. Women in Film Festival, a finalist at The Writers Lab NYC and a top 15% at Nicholl 2021.

A Parallel Life

Three women, inextricably bound in parallel universes, unknowingly make each other’s day change its course. It celebrates the belief that we exist in multiple planets, places, or galaxies simultaneously, where all the choices we make are played out in different realities.
