About Rahim

Rahim Branch is a native of Cleveland Ohio. Growing-up his interest in filmmaking was
first sparked by his mother who helped nurture he and his siblings creative freedom.
Often taking him to museums and libraries that helped fuel creative juices. As an
adolescent he got into special effects, due in large part to his interest in horror films. He
made fake blood and other props.
During his sophomore year Rahim started working with Ameri-Corps. An organization
that is similar to a domestic peace corps. Participating with this organization was a
positive and enriching experience. Civic duty by way of volunteering hours that were
necessary became important to him. He volunteered at homeless shelters, food banks, schools, and teen centers. His mostenriching experience came at a after school center for at risk youth. There, he was fortunate enough to help enrich the lives of many of these kids. After graduating from High school Rahim went to Cleveland State University.

He majored in Mass Communications with the aspirations to become a writer and
videographer for television. While there he also took classes that introduced him to the
world of filmmaking, specifically the art of editing. While taking a video editing class he
began to experiment with different visual montages that helped mold his aesthetic style.

In 2004 Rahim graduated from Cleveland State and began working at small video
production center. Working on corporate and promotional videos gave Rahim the
experience necessary for future career opportunities. During this time he expanded on his video editing skills by learning various post production software, like Avid and Final
Cut Pro.

In 2009 shortly after moving to Chicago, Rahim went back to his hometown of
Cleveland and shot his first short film which was titled ‘Mother’s Day’. Catching the
filmmaking bug Rahim enrolled at Columbia film school. Getting a better understanding
how to put a film together was one of the major lessons that he learned. During the two years he spent at Columbia his directing techniques were honed, while building a
resume of creative work. Rahim now is a full-time filmmaker and lives in Chicago IL with his family.
