About Rich

Screenwriter and creature feature/monster horror specialist. Spec screenplays available or under development. Available for paid assignments to help you create the creature feature of your dreams ... or nightmares!

I"m a freelance copywriter, with a strong background in digital marketing (email, content marketing, etc.) as well as trade, industry, and government newsletter/magazine article writing & editing. I am focusing my work these days on video ad script writing.

I believe story has power to change the world. It is through story that we truly communicate, share, educate, and learn. A well-told story transcends genre or even format ... whether oral, on paper in a novel, or on screen through the collaboration of screenwriters, directors, actors, etc. That's why I'm here ... to connect with other storytellers who are passionate about developing their trade and making a difference in the world around them.

I specialize in creature features and monster horror because, well, because its fun to write. But more than that, the monsters like Cthullu or demons or creatures from the deep, and the stories they inhabit are modern mythologies. Comedies make us laugh and poke fun at ourselves. Dramas illustrate the struggles of everyman/woman. Action, sci-fi, and fantasy take us to worlds that we do not and cannot inhabit ourselves.

But it is horror that speaks to our deepest recesses, our most basic urges and fears and hopes. The monsters represent the darkness inside ourselves, or what we see in the world around us. By grappling with these monsters, we gain hope that we can survive the chaos around us. The movies allow us to face our demons and darkness head on, to find strategies and pathways to fight back.

I write horror because I believe that exposing our demons and inner monsters to the light of story, we can exercise them and ultimately destroy them. Plus, like I said, its fun to write a scene that scares the sh*t outta me!
