About Hitomi

I had dreamt of being a novelist since I was a child.
When I was young, I admired the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami and decided to attend Waseda University, the same university that Mr. Murakami had attended and graduated from. My major was creative writing and I wrote short poems called "tanka" which are Japanese poems that are a little bit longer than "haiku" poems. The "tanka" that I had written were put in several local and national newspapers and magazines.
I received an award for my "tanaka" poems in a contest that was held in 2013.

Although, I couldn't make any stories and almost gave up writing. Then I have seen stories appear in my mind since 2016 suddenly. I don't just create stories but SEE them literally, not metaphorically in my mind. Since most of the protagonists of my stories are non-Japanese, I have been hesitantly writing scripts in English.

One of my scripts got an evaluation from the Black List; "It has a Tarantino meets Woody Allen vibe."

Currently, I'm collaborating with a talented novelist/screenwriter to polish my script. I hope we will be able to sell it in the near future.
