About Joe

While a freshman in Temple University's Radio-TV-Film program, Joe Augustyn won a Nissan FOCUS Award (the most heavily endowed student film competition at the time.) The award brought him to Hollywood where he attended AFI's conservatory as a producing fellow.

After graduation he worked in production on indie features as an associate of Steve Golin, then branched off on his own.

Joe wrote and produced the original NIGHT OF THE DEMONS, a perennial Halloween favorite, and later wrote the first sequel in the franchise. In an interview, Quentin Tarantino cited NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2 as one of his favorite horror films. A third film and a remake have since been produced, without Joe's creative involvement.

Joe's second film as writer-producer, NIGHT ANGEL was the first film to introduce the proto-feminist demon Lilith to the cinema. Following that production he retired from producing to focus on writing. Over the years he's optioned scripts to Ruddy-Morgan, Cherry Tree Films and Applecreek Communications, and completed writing assignments for companies like Tri-Star, Propaganda, IRS Media and countless indies..

In 2001 Joe moved back east to care for his handicapped parents. He continued his screenwriting career with assignments from Brazos Films and Anonymous Content, where he's currently employed developing a supernatural thriller with VP Laurie Ross.

Joe has also published two horror novels and a true paranormal book.

Then all the hostages escape and hide in the club's refrigerator which sort of indicates the intelligence of the stick-up men. Unfortunately, the cops outside are no more intelligent as they stand around outside wondering what to do as one of the strippers who was released crawls back into an extremely large venting system for a small club and rescues the hostages with the help of an ex-cop held inside the club.
