Darren Michael Gordo Gordon

Producer Extraordinaire.

Darren began studying a Bachelor of Commerce degree through Unisa.From there,he went on to study film at the South African School of Motion Picture Medium & Live Performance (AFDA).
He achieved an Honours degree and majored in producing.

Darren was awarded the coveted best producer of the year award for 3 consecutive years,1998,1999,2000.

In 2001, he headed up production at Afda and over saw the production of ±50 short films/stage productions.

While achieving his honors degree,Darren produced the ground breaking/successful/ award winning feature film,‘Soldiers of the rock’.'SOR' was selected for 27 international film festivals and won many awards,including Best Feature Film at The San Francisco Black Film Festival, The Grand Jury prize at the Pan African Film Festival, Los Angeles, 2002.The film was released locally by Ster Kinekor.

In 2002, Darren began his commercial filmmaking career at Freshwater Films.
In 2004, he co founded and headed up production at Blender Film Productions.

He has worked with some of South Africa’s top commercial directors. To name a few: Lourens van Rensbrg, Jason Xenopoulos, Dule Anicic, Marc Sidelsky, Zola Maseko, Andre Liebenberg, Cindy Lee, Mosese Semenya, Jonathan Cohen and now, Alan Irvin.

Darren has filmed all over South Africa as well as having been the first South African producer to take a crew & film a campaign in Saudi Arabia.

He has been producing commercials for some of South Africa’s top advertising agencies & clients since 2002. To name a few:Net#work BBDO(Nedbank),Ogilvy SA(KFC), TBWA Hunt Lascaris(Tiger Brands),Y&R Gitam(MTN), Metropolitan Republic (Wimpy),The Jupiter Drawing Room (MTN),Morris Jones (Discovery Health),Black River FC (Nandos),The Agency(Telkom),McCann Erickson(Opel),The Hardy Boys(Vaseline), Jupiter Drawing Room- Cape Town, Sattchi & Saatchi- Cape Town.

Darren loves traveling and has attended the following film festivals:Slamdance'99,Cannes Lions 2004,Rotterdam International FF 2002,Toronto International FF 2004,Festival du court metrage,France 2002
