About Hidde

Born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. As a kid travelled the United States with my family for two years as late hippies in an european van in the the 80's. Didn't go to school then, but learned all about life. And although I have seen (and still see) the difficulties in interacting with each other, I have also seen hope. Hope in the fact that the majority of people, most of the time the ones that don't SHOUT that much, are looking for the same thing. Looking for respect, friendship and love. People just need to be seen.
The friction between our habit to label people and our search for respect, friendship and love is the motive of what I create as a filmmaker. As a director and as an actingcoach.

Naranjina en de kadekapers (2011)
Television (Drama) Miscellaneous Crew Naranjina is a kids tv series about a girl who lives in the harbor of Rotterdam with her big dog "Dokko". She doen't know where she's from so she named herself by the Oranges of the ship where she fell in as a little baby. These oranges (and ship) are the only way the find out where she's from and where her parents live. In the meantime she experiences all different kind of adventures with her 4 sellected friends "de kadekapers". She lives under the ground in her homemade boathouse where all friends come together and where they plan the next adventure which hopefully will bring her a little-bit closer to the biggest challenge: help Naranjina to find her parents. Rent a Friend (2000)
Film (Comedy and Romance) Actor In Rent a Friend the talented painter ARTHUR is suffering from an artist's block. Alfred does not bother about becoming rich and famous. He sticks to painting bright coloured Mexican hats. Alfred's total lack of ambition increasingly irritates his girlfriend MONIEK. Moniek is a successful writer of a popular Dutch soap opera and she is continuously accusing Alfred of having no commercial instinct. The soap episodes created by Moniek are totally based on her own life. When Alfred sees one of the episodes, he correctly infers that she is having an affair with the executive producer. He decides to leave Moniek and sets out to show the world that he doesn't have a problem with making money. He starts a company called Rent a Friend and rents himself out as a friend to those in need of one. The concept is so successful that he soon is running a veritable "friends empire".
