THE MERC

THE MERC
By Scott Sawitz

GENRE: Action
LOGLINE:

After reinventing himself as a badass security specialist, an everyday schlub must become the badass he’s pretended to be in order to prevent his secret double life from being exposed.

SYNOPSIS:

Jackson Stone is a bad ass security specialist with a fat bank account, an amazing New York City penthouse and a life story out of an action movie. He only one has one problem: his biography is a work of fiction.

Stealing a dead man’s name and his DD 214, Jackson would trade in his life as a big box store janitor in flyover country for that of a former Army special forces / black ops guy turned private military contractor.

As the charismatic leading man he always wanted to be, instead of the background extra he seemingly was consigned to playing, the fables he’d tell about his exploits (alongside a lot of blood, sweat and tears) would pave the way to the sort of life he could only dream of as a child.

The biggest fiction about his past is about El Jefe, a notorious South American drug kingpin he "killed.”

When the real El Jefe turns up with a score to settle against the real Jackson Stone, the fake Jackson Stone will have to contend with him as well as a reality TV show starlet who's decided that Jackson will be part of her show no matter what.

In the balance lies the carefully constructed story that's supported the life he's built, one he won't let go without a fight.
